Squared Sums Pte Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates SoundLocal and is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. By using the Service you consent to the processing described here.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information (email, name, profile, language preferences).
- Lookups, sentences, and other inputs you submit for translation, explanation, or audio generation.
- Communications with our support team.
- Preferences and in-app settings.
2.2 Automatically collected information
- Usage data and analytics.
- Device information (browser type, operating system, device type).
- IP address and approximate location (country/region).
- Access timestamps and session duration.
- Performance and error data.
- Cookie and similar technology data.
2.3 Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe (web), Apple (iOS), or Google (Android), with subscription status synced via RevenueCat. We receive purchase confirmation and entitlement status. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To route your inputs to AI providers to generate translations, explanations, and audio.
- To process payments, manage subscriptions, and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- To communicate with you about your account, subscription, or support requests.
- To improve the Service based on usage patterns and feedback.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
- To protect against unauthorized access and ensure platform security.
4. Third parties we share data with
- AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Replicate, ElevenLabs) - process your inputs to generate translations, explanations, and audio.
- Subscription billing (Stripe, Apple, Google, RevenueCat) - process payments and sync entitlement status.
- Email (Resend) - transactional and account emails.
- Internal alerts (Discord) - operational notifications to our team.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and our data processing arrangements with them.
5. Data storage, retention, and security
5.1 Data retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy:
- Account information: retained for the duration of your active account and for up to 3 years after account closure, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Subscription, payment, and billing records: retained for up to 7 years to comply with Singapore tax and financial record-keeping requirements (Income Tax Act, Companies Act).
- AI inputs and lookup history: retained for up to 12 months from submission, then deleted or anonymized. You can delete your history earlier from in-app settings.
- Communications and support records: retained for up to 2 years from the date of your last interaction with our support team.
- Usage and analytics data: retained in aggregated or anonymized form for up to 2 years.
- Legal and compliance records: retained for as long as required by applicable law or regulation.
Upon expiration of the applicable retention period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymized. You may also request early deletion by exercising your rights as described in Section 6.
5.2 Data security
- Encrypted storage and end-to-end encrypted transmission using TLS.
- Payment processing through PCI-compliant providers (Stripe, Apple, Google).
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Access controls and authentication mechanisms.
- Backup and disaster recovery procedures.
6. Your rights
Subject to applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and request copies.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten).
- Object to certain data processing activities.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing.
- Lodge a complaint with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) or another competent supervisory authority.
7. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
SoundLocal does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not share device identifiers with third-party advertising networks.
8. International data transfers
Your data may be processed outside Singapore, primarily in the United States where most of our AI providers are based. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on standard contractual safeguards and provider-level data protection commitments.
9. Children
SoundLocal is not directed to users under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will take steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
